Rather than relying on blind dates, mixers, or dating apps, this 70-year-old man took an unconventional approach by putting up a billboard seeking ‘marriage and karaoke’ at a cost of $ 400 per week.
Al Gilberti, who describes himself as ‘lovelorn,’ has received significant attention due to his unconventional approach. He erected a 20-foot-high billboard in Sweetwater, Texas, featuring his photo and a message.
The text reads, ‘Lonely Male Can Relocate to Sweetwater,’ followed by the request for a ‘Female Marriage-Minded’ partner who enjoys karaoke.
As reported by the outlet, “The father of one, who has been married before, desires a partner who embodies loyalty, honesty, and sincerity. He remains optimistic about finding his ‘Miss Right’ and is willing to relocate anywhere in the US or even the UK if he encounters the right person.”
“I’m prepared to move anywhere within the US. It all depends on the person – as long as I’m not going to stump the money up and then I have to leave! Of course, I’m somewhat looking for fame with the billboard but I also want to meet the right person,” he shared with the outlet.
According to Gilberti, he has been inundated with over 400 phone calls and approximately 50 emails following his recent advertisement.
He has cleverly redirected the calls to a friend’s phone. Interestingly, many of the inquiries seem to be from individuals hoping to benefit from his perceived wealth. Some even assumed he was affluent enough to assist with their bills.
“I want to meet the right person but I haven’t had that person call yet. If I meet the right person I want to look at their eyes and see how they respond. I’d go to Europe to meet someone, I just need to get my passport sorted,” he added.
