In a sudden outbreak of violence at a municipal water park near Detroit, nine individuals, including minors, suffered gunshot injuries on Saturday night. Authorities are actively pursuing the assailant, who is believed to be trapped in a nearby residence. A firearm was recovered at the crime scene, according to law enforcement officials.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard reported at a press briefing that an individual exited a vehicle and discharged roughly 30 rounds from a 9mm semiautomatic Glock, reloading multiple times, at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan, around 5 p.m. local time.
Police, who initially stated that five individuals were shot, have not confirmed any fatalities at this time. Sheriff Bouchard indicated that the injured parties have been distributed among several hospitals, with their conditions still pending. He noted that the victims include a child of 8 years old.

Located approximately 30 miles north of Detroit, Rochester Hills shares Oakland County with Oxford Township, which experienced a tragic school shooting in 2021.
In that incident, 15-year-old student Ethan Crumbley fatally shot four students and injured seven others, including six students and a teacher, at Oxford High School.
“It’s a gut punch, obviously, for us here in Oakland County,” Bouchard said. “We’ve gone through so many tragedies, you know. We’re not even fully comprehending what happened at Oxford.”

Photos flooding social media depicted a concerning scene at a park, where a significant presence of law enforcement and emergency medical teams converged near a splash pad.
The images suggest that medical staff were tending to an individual on the splash pad’s damp surface, as police maintained a perimeter to hold back spectators.
