A tragic road accident in the UK claimed the life of a 36-year-old manager of an Indian restaurant while he was cycling home. This incident has prompted a murder investigation by the British police, resulting in eight arrests this week.
On February 14, while returning from his job at the Indian restaurant Vel in Reading, south-east England, Vignesh Pattabhiraman had an unfortunate encounter. He was involved in a vehicle collision at the Cadugan Place junction in the city while cycling home.

The Thames Valley Police reported that after being quickly transported to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
Shazeb Khalid, a 24-year-old suspect in the murder case, has been charged and made an appearance at the Reading Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Additionally, seven men from the same city, were arrested under suspicion of aiding an offender. They have all been granted bail.
“Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, the Senior Investigating Officer of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, expressed that their thoughts are with Mr. Raman’s family, who are currently receiving support from officers specially trained for this purpose.”
“He stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing and arrests have been made. He also reiterated his appeal for anyone with information to contact Thames Valley Police,” he said.
“Officers from the Major Crime Unit have stated that a noticeable police presence will be maintained in the area as their investigation progresses, in order to address any concerns from the public on site,” they said.
“In the meantime, a charity initiative on Just Giving, established by Pattabhiraman’s friends and family to assist with repatriation expenses and provide support for his bereaved wife Ramya following the ‘senseless tragedy’, has managed to raise more than GBP 39,000 in just a few days,” they said.
“The page describes Vignesh as a dedicated restaurant manager at Vel, who devoted himself wholeheartedly to his work. He was recognized for his exceptionally warm personality, customer service, and work ethics. His aspiration of attaining a senior management role in the hotel industry was close to becoming a reality, with a promising opportunity at Hyatt Regency Mayfair London on the horizon,” it reads.
