The individual who fell victim to the shooting has been recognized as Jason Lee Maccani, 36 years old.
The video that was made public on Tuesday illustrates an instance where a man is faced with six police officers in a building’s passageway.
They instruct the man to come towards them with his arms elevated, and initially, he appears to adhere to their command.
However, he doesn’t halt his movement and continues to stride with his hands tightly balled into fists, gripping an item that the officers perceived to be a screwdriver.
The police attempted to restrain him but were unsuccessful, as stated in a police report.
In the footage, the man is observed advancing towards the police officers at the moment when the sound of gunfire is audible.
“The suspect grabbed one of the officers and the Beanbag Shotgun she was holding, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting,” it said.
The police were dispatched to the structure following a call to an emergency line reporting an “assault involving a lethal weapon” within a warehouse.
The caller reported that an individual, seemingly intoxicated by drugs or alcohol, was menacing their employers with a stick.
Maccani succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital. Fortunately, no harm came to any of the warehouse staff or police officers involved.
