Following a recent meeting between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former Republican US President Donald Trump, during which Trump was reportedly seeking financial support for his re-election campaign, Musk has unequivocally stated that he is not providing funding to any of the US presidential candidates.
As per The New York Times, former US President Donald Trump recently convened with Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of SpaceX, along with several affluent Republican donors in Palm Beach, Florida.
However, the owner-executive chairman of X (formerly Twitter) asserted on his microblogging platform that he is not providing financial support to either the Republicans or the Democrats in the upcoming US Presidential elections.
“Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President,” Musk wrote.
On Wednesday, Nikki Haley suspended her Republican presidential campaign after losing to Donald Trump in the Super Tuesday elections. This decision paves the way for a rematch between President Biden and former President Trump in the upcoming November election.
Donald Trump has faced significant financial setbacks due to legal judgments against him. In a New York civil fraud case, a judge ordered Trump to pay a staggering $464 million in penalties. The case centered around allegations that Trump and top executives at his company engaged in fraud by overstating their assets on financial documents.
Additionally, Trump was hit with an $83 million defamation verdict in federal court in New York, stemming from a separate issue where he denied allegations made by writer E. Jean Carroll that he raped her decades earlier.
Despite these legal challenges, Trump is reportedly seeking contributions for his campaign as he eyes a potential rematch with President Biden in the upcoming November election.
In 2022, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a prominent figure in the tech world, urged Americans to vote for a Republican Congress during the US midterm elections. His intention was to create a balance by countering the influence of Joe Biden’s Democrats.
Despite positioning himself as politically independent, the billionaire Elon Musk publicly endorsed Joe Biden during the 2020 US Presidential election. However, subsequent events have seen Musk criticize President Biden and clash with his administration .
Last December, Elon Musk’s mother publicly accused President Biden of hindering her billionaire son’s efforts to improve the world. Earlier, in November, a tweet from Musk was condemned as “abhorrent” by the White House .
Elon Musk has explicitly stated that he will not cast his vote for Joe Biden in the future .
