On Sunday morning, a tragic accident occurred on the Herat-Kandahar highway in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. According to TOLOnews, 21 lives were lost and 38 others were injured. Among the injured, 11 individuals are in critical condition .
According to the Information and Culture Directorate of Helmand Province, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning in the Yakhchal neighborhood of Grishk district, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
“On Sunday morning, 21 people were killed and 38 people were injured due to a collision between a tanker, a motorcycle and a passenger bus,” the provincial information department said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to the report, the tragic accident occurred when the bus driver lost control after colliding with a motorcycle. Subsequently, the bus collided with an oil tanker that was traveling in the opposite direction from Kandahar.
The heart-wrenching incident resulted in the loss of 16 lives among the bus passengers, 2 individuals on the motorbike, and 3 occupants in the oil tanker.
Thirty-eight injured individuals were promptly taken to hospitals in Grishk district and the provincial capital of Helmand, Lashkargah City. Among the injured, eleven people were reported to be in critical condition, as per TOLOnews .
According to a traffic official in Helmand, an investigation is currently underway regarding the accident. In Afghanistan, traffic-related incidents have surged in various provinces, particularly on highways, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries.
