According to the Russian security agency, the perpetrators of the deadly attack at the Moscow concert hall had contacts in Ukraine and were attempting to flee across the Russian-Ukrainian border. The Federal Security Service (FSB) stated that these individuals, after carrying out the terrorist attack, had established connections on the Ukrainian side.
Ukraine’s presidency categorically denies any involvement of Kyiv in the attack, asserting that they had “nothing to do” with the tragic incident. However, Ukraine’s military intelligence takes a different stance, labeling the event as a Russian “provocation”. They assert that Moscow special services orchestrated the attack.
The Islamic State group has asserted responsibility for the brazen attack on a large concert hall in Moscow. According to their statement posted on affiliated channels on social media, they attacked a gathering in Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow.
The authenticity of this claim could not be independently verified1. The attackers’ fate remains unclear after the raid, which Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described as a “huge tragedy” and authorities are investigating it as an act of terrorism.
Camouflaged assailants infiltrated the concert hall, unleashing a hail of gunfire and hurling grenades and incendiary devices. Disturbing videos captured the hall engulfed in flames, thick black smoke billowing from its structure.
Three helicopters swooped in, desperately dousing the inferno with torrents of water. This massive concert venue, renowned for hosting world-class artists, was now a scene of chaos and devastation.
Amidst the chaos, scores of terrified concertgoers sought refuge behind seats. Others darted toward the basement or scrambled for the roof, desperate to evade the relentless hail of bullets.
As the clock ticked past midnight, the emergency responders worked tirelessly, battling the inferno that had consumed the once-vibrant hall. Their efforts bore fruit—the fire was finally contained.
