Saudi Arabia has achieved a milestone by participating in the Miss Universe pageant for the first time ever. The global event, scheduled to take place in Mexico on September 18, will feature 27-year-old Rumy Alqahtani as the Kingdom’s inaugural contestant.
Rumy Alqahtani, a prominent personality in beauty pageants and social media, announced on her Instagram account that she will represent Saudi Arabia in this prestigious global competition.

“In a historic moment, I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Miss Universe 2024 competition as the representative of Saudi Arabia. This marks the Kingdom’s debut in the prestigious Miss Universe pageant, she wrote in Arabic on Instagram.
According to a report by Khaleej Times, Alqahtani, who hails from Riyadh, is no stranger to the public eye. She has graced several international beauty pageants, including her recent participation in the Miss and Mrs Global Asian competition held in Malaysia a few weeks ago. In the shared pictures, she elegantly dons a strapless and sequined gown.
In the 2023 Miss Universe competition, history was made as Sheynnis Palacios, representing Nicaragua, secured the coveted title. This remarkable achievement marked the first time a contestant from Nicaragua claimed the prestigious crown.
The pageant also celebrated the talents of Antonia Porsild from Thailand, who secured the second position, and Moraya Wilson from Australia, who gracefully took third place. Miss Universe 2024 is all set to dazzle in Mexico, marking the 73rd edition of this prestigious pageant.
