In the midst of the Palestine-Israel conflict, six-year-old Hind Rajab from Gaza tragically became a symbol of suffering. Despite her desperate pleas for help, an Israeli military attack on the vehicle she was fleeing in resulted in the deaths of her relatives and two PRCS paramedics who were trying to rescue her.
On January 29, in Gaza, Hind Rajab and her family members tragically lost their lives when their car was attacked. They were caught in the crossfire while trying to escape the conflict zone, and their fate remained uncertain until February 10.
Subsequently, her family confirmed that she was discovered lifeless inside the devastated vehicle, alongside other family members, in the Tel al-Hawa district of Gaza City.
In February, Hind’s grandfather, Baha Hamada, tearfully informed AFP that Hind and all the other occupants of the car had become martyrs. He also mentioned that their ability to reach the area was due to the early dawn withdrawal of Israeli forces.
“I will question before God on Judgment Day those who heard my daughter’s cries for help and did not save her,” Hind’s mother, Wissam Hamada, said.
A spokesperson for the PRCS Nebal Farsakh, said, “We have been in constant panic and fear over the last 12 days. We were unable to send anyone else to the area so we were uncertain regarding their fate. We wondered if they were dead or alive.”
“Today, Hind’s family arrived at the location after the Israeli military withdrew from the area and they found her inside the car with her dead family beside her.”
Amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Gaza City has suffered significant devastation. Many families, including Hind’s, are desperately seeking safety in the midst of this chaos.
The PRCS remains in grief over the loss of their fellow colleagues and the young girl. Her desperate pleas for rescue will linger as a haunting memory of that fateful day.
Layan Hamadeh, Hind’s 15-year-old cousin, urgently reported, ‘They’re firing at us. The tank is right beside me.’ The call abruptly ended, interrupted by what seemed to be the sound of gunfire.

In the audio recording released by the PRCS, Hind’s desperate plea echoes: ‘Will you come for me? Can you come and rescue me?
The damaged ambulance and the car belonging to the family bear witness to the brutality suffered by both civilians and aid personnel.
“We have very clear red cross emblems on top of all of our ambulances,” Farsakh said. “This is horrible because when we have waited so many hours, leaving Hind appealing to us, crying, saying, please come pick me up, and then, unfortunately, although we have waited all of these hours to guarantee our safe access, it wasn’t a safe access.”
The PRCS said, “The occupation deliberately targeted the Red Crescent crew despite prior coordination to allow the ambulance to arrive at the site to rescue Hind.”
