Authorities are investigating a mass shooting in northern Illinois where multiple people were shot in what is being referred to as a mass casualty incident.
Emergency responders dispatched ambulances and two medical helicopters to the Lost Lake community near Dixon, where a significant police presence was also reported. This incident followed a mass shooting in northern Illinois.

According to a spokesperson from Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, three individuals were transported to the hospital’s emergency department.
When contacted by The Associated Press, a representative from the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department declined to comment. The department’s website indicated that a news conference was scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Local media captured aerial footage on Wednesday afternoon, revealing law enforcement and personal vehicles parked along unpaved roads in the neighborhood. Officials were seen gathering in small groups, but there was minimal ongoing activity.
A yellow police tape blocked access to at least one driveway, and an Ogle County sheriff’s mobile command center was stationed at the end of the drive.

The Lost Lake Property Owners Association characterizes the area as a rustic community with approximately 700 owners.
It is situated in an unincorporated region near the cities of Dixon, Franklin Grove, and Oregon, approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Chicago.
