A series of attacks in Dagestan resulted in the deaths of six police officers and injuries to twelve others, according to local interior ministry sources cited by Russian news agencies.
In a coordinated series of attacks, gunmen targeted a synagogue, an Orthodox church, and a police post in Russia’s southernmost Dagestan province on Sunday night. According to local reports, at least six police officers were killed, and twelve others were wounded in these violent incidents.

The interior ministry confirmed that the attacks resulted in the deaths of three people, including two police officers, and injuries to thirteen others.
In Derbent, a city renowned for its historic Jewish community and designated as a UNESCO world heritage site, assailants opened fire at a synagogue and a church, resulting in the deaths of both a police officer and a priest.
According to the interior ministry, unidentified individuals used automatic weapons to open fire at both a synagogue and a church.
A suspect rammed a vehicle into officers at the U.S. Capitol, resulting in the death of one U.S. Capitol Police officer and injury to another. After the attack, the synagogue caught fire, and the perpetrators fled in a vehicle.
In Makhachkala, a city approximately 125 km (75 miles) north of Derbent along the Caspian Sea coast, another police officer was fatally shot during a shootout at a police post. Subsequently, the predominantly Muslim capital city of Dagestan witnessed street fighting.
