BENGALURU, INDIA – The Bengaluru bomb blast turned a regular day at the bustling Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli into a scene of chaos and panic when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, injuring nine people. The incident, which took place around 12:30 pm IST (Indian Standard Time), has sent shockwaves through the city and sparked a city-wide investigation.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed in a press conference, “There’s information that around 12.30 pm, there was an explosion. And that there was a bag. The investigation is on… I am getting to know that it was an IED. The investigation is on.”
In a tweet by Gega Updates™, the cafe owner also confirmed the cause of the explosion, stating, “Explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Cafe owner confirmed that it was a blast from an unknown bag & not an accidental explosion from cylinders. The free loaders have gifted this to Karnataka.”

The explosion was captured on CCTV, and the footage is currently being examined by the police. A tweet from BefittingFacts further confirmed the nature of the explosion, stating, “RameshwaramCafe blast CCTV footage. This is not an LPG blast!!”

The police, along with a team from the anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA), bomb squad, and forensics laboratory, are working tirelessly to uncover the details of the incident. An FIR has been filed under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act.
BJP’s Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his concern about the incident. He revealed, “Just spoke to Rameshwaram Cafe founder Sri Nagaraj about the blast in his restaurant. He informed me that the blast occurred because of a bag that was left by a customer. It seems to be a clear case of a bomb blast.”

The nine injured individuals were rushed to Brookfield Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Karnataka Police Chief Alok Mohan confirmed that they are out of danger.
An eyewitness named Edison shared his account, stating, “While waiting outside the eatery for my turn, a sudden loud noise, like an explosion, startled us. Uncertain and scared, around 35-40 people within the eatery began rushing out, creating absolute chaos.”
