On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Ambrose Finnegan, President Joe Biden’s maternal uncle, died during World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean, and he was not eaten by cannibals.
“The House press secretary conveyed that the president experienced immense pride regarding his uncle’s military service. During a visit to the War Memorial, the emotional significance of his uncle’s uniform deeply affected him.”

During questioning yesterday, he addressed the poignant moment related to his uncle, who tragically lost his life in a military aircraft crash near New Guinea after takeoff.
Jean-Pierre opted not to provide additional details, explaining that the presidential plane was about to land in Philadelphia, where President Biden had campaign visits scheduled.
During his recent campaign stops in Pennsylvania, Biden recounted an incident where New Guinea natives allegedly consumed his uncle. According to him, his uncle’s plane was shot down in an area inhabited by cannibals.
Although the body was never recovered, a subsequent government investigation found some remnants of the aircraft.
In Pittsburgh, Biden emphasized that Finnegan’s plane was shot down in New Guinea, but his body was never recovered due to the presence of real cannibals in that region.
While the official account of Finnegan’s death, as provided by the US military, differs from Biden’s narrative, it remains a topic of interest and debate.
The Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency reports that Finnegan’s plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of New Guinea due to engine failure.
The aircraft was compelled to make an emergency landing in the ocean off the northern coast of New Guinea due to unknown factors. With both engines failing at low altitude, the plane’s nose struck the water with significant force, according to the agency report.
Three men did not survive the sinking wreck, and their fate remains unknown. However, a single crew member managed to survive and was rescued by a passing barge.
Despite an aerial search the following day, no sign of the missing aircraft or the lost crew members was found.
Biden’s habit of sharing personal anecdotes with questionable accuracy or lacking supporting evidence is a recurring theme.
Over the course of his political career, he has frequently employed such narratives to establish connections with his audience, particularly among Pennsylvania voters who may hold significant sway in his potential re-election campaign against former President Donald Trump.
