A FlySafair flight experienced an emergency landing at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. Shortly after takeoff, smoke emerged from one of the wheels, and images on social media platform X revealed partial damage to the undercarriage and right-wing during the landing.

Ground personnel identified the damage and informed the pilots. The plane returned and landed safely.

FlySafair, a South African airline, confirmed that the flight safely landed back at OR Tambo International Airport without any reported injuries. According to one of the airline’s spokespersons, the crew responded promptly to the observation and made the decision to return to Johannesburg.
Kirby Gordon in an interview with local media stated. Flight FA212 altered its course back to Johannesburg and entered a holding pattern near Parys to burn off fuel, lightening the aircraft for landing.”
Subsequently, passengers were transferred to a backup aircraft bound for Cape Town.
