In a tragic incident in South Vancouver, Canada, a 24-year-old Indian student named Chirag Antil was fatally shot while sitting inside a car.
According to a statement by the Vancouver Police, Chirag Antil, a 24-year-old, was discovered deceased inside a vehicle in the vicinity after nearby residents reported hearing gunshots .
“Officers were called to East 55th Avenue and Main Street around 11 pm on April 12 after residents heard the sound of gunshots. Chirag Antil, 24, was found deceased inside a vehicle in the area. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing,” the police said.

In a heartfelt plea, Varun Choudhary, the chief of the Congress students’ wing National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), took to social media Platform X to tag the Ministry of External Affairs.
“Urgent attention regarding the murder of Chirag Antil, an Indian student in Vancouver, Canada. We urge the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the progress of the investigation and ensure that justice is swiftly served,” Mr. Varun Choudhary stated.
“Additionally, we request the ministry to extend all necessary support and assistance to the family of the deceased during this difficult time,” he said.
As per local media reports, Chirag Antil’s family has initiated a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to facilitate the repatriation of his body to India.
Romit Antil, the brother of Chirag Antil, a 24-year-old student from Haryana’s Sonipat, shared that Chirag was a kind-hearted person.
Romit Antil, speaking to CityNews, shared heartfelt memories of his brother. Their bond was strong, and they conversed daily, regardless of the hour. The last time they spoke was just before the tragic accident.
Chirag’s demeanor was consistently positive; he never harbored any conflicts or animosity towards others. His kindness and politeness were evident to everyone who knew him.
Chirag Antil arrived in Vancouver in September 2022. He had recently completed his MBA at University Canada West and obtained his work permit.
His journey was filled with aspirations and dreams, but tragically, it was cut short by the unfortunate incident that took place near his Vancouver apartment.
