Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, faced backlash on Friday after sharing a video on social media. The video featured an image of a hog-tied President Joe Biden painted on the tailgate of a passing truck. The Biden campaign swiftly condemned the video, expressing concern that it suggested physical harm to the sitting Democratic president.
😱 Donald Trump making threats against Joe Biden 🙄
Donald Trump did not post an image to Truth Social of Joe Biden bound and kidnapped, he posted this video clip with that image painted on the tailgate of the 2nd truckpic.twitter.com/uzKQXJ7Fwp— Brendan (@BrendanMcInnis) March 30, 2024
Biden consistently characterizes his likely 2024 opponent as someone who routinely invokes Nazi imagery when discussing immigrants. In his speeches, Biden also emphasizes that Trump’s relentless efforts to overturn the 2020 election results ultimately culminated in the assault on the U.S. Capitol.
Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign’s communications director, asserted, “Trump is regularly inciting political violence, and it’s time people take him seriously—just ask the Capitol police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6.”
In a swift response, Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign spokesman, defended the controversial video. He asserted that the image of a hog-tied President Joe Biden was displayed on the back of a pickup truck that was simply traveling down the highway.
Cheung further claimed that Democrats and other critics have not only advocated violence against President Trump and his family but have also weaponized the justice system against him.
The U.S. Secret Service issued a statement, maintaining its policy of not confirming or commenting on matters of protective intelligence. Meanwhile, the former president shared the video on his social media platform, Truth Social, along with a caption indicating that it was filmed in Long Island, New York.
The video was taken during his attendance at the wake of a New York City police officer who tragically lost his life during a traffic stop on Thursday.
The video depicts a passing truck adorned with “Trump 2024” banners and flags expressing support for law enforcement. On the rear of the vehicle, there’s a portrayal of a seemingly vulnerable Biden with bound hands and feet.
Recently, shares in Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. commenced trading on the stock market, significantly boosting his wealth by billions of dollars. In his quest to reclaim the White House, Trump has painted a bleak scenario for the nation should Biden secure a second term.
“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country,” he warned at an Ohio rally earlier this month while talking about the impact of offshoring on the country’s auto industry.
Donald Trump has faced criticism for repeatedly using rhetoric that echoes Adolf Hitler’s language. He has argued that immigrants entering the U.S. illegally are “poisoning the blood of our country” .
Despite this, he continues to use inflammatory language, such as describing enemies as “vermin” . At a recent rally, he even suggested that Biden’s handling of the border was part of a conspiracy to overthrow the United States .
“If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,” Biden said at the time, adding that any man who disrespected women was “usually the fattest, ugliest SOB in the room.”
In the past year, prior to his indictment in New York for hush money payments related to his 2016 campaign, Donald Trump shared a photo on social media where he posed with a baseball bat next to an image of District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Additionally, during a 2018 speech, Joe Biden expressed his disapproval of lewd remarks made by Trump about women by implying a readiness to engage in physical combat with the then-president.
