At a fundraising event in San Francisco on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden launched a fierce critique against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his former adversary, Donald Trump. Biden labeled Putin as an “eccentric individual” and expressed astonishment at Trump’s self-analogizing to the deceased Russian dissident, Alexey Navalny.

Biden expressed that Putin, along with leaders of similar disposition, continually present a looming danger of nuclear conflict.
“We have a crazy SOB like that guy Putin, and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict,” he said.
Furthermore, Biden expressed strong disapproval of Trump, who intends to contest against him in the forthcoming presidential election, for drawing parallels between himself and Navalny. Navalny met a tragic end after being subjected to poisoning and subsequent imprisonment by the Kremlin.
“I don’t know where the hell this comes from,” Biden said.
“It astounds me the things that are being said. I mean, if I stood here 10, 15 years ago and said any of this, you’d all think I should be committed.”
The fundraising event was a segment of Biden’s three-day journey to the West Coast, during which he participated in activities in both Southern and Northern California. As per the reports, his campaign had amassed a fund of $130 million by the conclusion of January.
In the meantime, the White House declared its plans to disclose a “significant sanctions package” against Russia on Friday. This action is in retaliation to Navalny’s demise and the ongoing hostility in Ukraine. These sanctions would supplement the current measures imposed on Putin’s administration.
Nonetheless, the approval for additional assistance to Ukraine has not been granted by Congress yet, due to political disagreements causing a delay. The House of Representatives is currently on a recess this week.
