Mike Tyson, renowned for striking fear into opponents, has surprisingly revealed his own apprehensions. As he gears up to face Jake Paul in a highly anticipated bout scheduled for July 20 at AT&T
Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Tyson, now 58 years old, admits to being “scared to death.” The contrast is intriguing: the seasoned former heavyweight champion versus the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer.
“Anything I’m afraid of, I confront it,” Tyson said during an interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity Tuesday. “And that’s my personality.
“Like right now, I’m scared to death. But as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality. And in reality, I’m invincible.”
Tyson, with an impressive record of 50 wins and 6 losses, including 44 knockouts, candidly revealed that the emotion of fear served as a driving force throughout his illustrious career.
“I always believed that adversity or nervousness, it liked pretty much catapulted me into success,” he said. “If I didn’t have these feelings, I wouldn’t go into this fight. I have to have these feelings to fight. Without them I would never go in the ring.”
In 2020, Tyson encountered similar emotions when he consented to face Roy Jones in an exhibition match.
“And I said, let’s do it,” Tyson recounted, his voice echoing with determination. In that pivotal moment, he embraced the challenge, stepping into the spotlight once more—a warrior fueled by both fear and unwavering resolve.
