The unfortunate demise of two police officers from Burnsville and a first responder has been verified by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, an organization that advocates for public safety professionals in the state.
Attempts by The Associated Press to seek comments through phone or email messages were not immediately responded to by the police, fire and city officials, including the mayor.
“We are heartbroken. Our law enforcement community is heartbroken. We’re just devastated at the horrific loss,” Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association executive director Brian Peters said in a statement.
“These heroes leave behind loved ones and a community who will forever remember their bravery and dedication to keeping Minnesotans safe.”
The Law Enforcement Labor Services, which stands for the regular officers and their supervisors in the Burnsville Police Department, released a statement through their Executive Director, Jim Mortenson. He expressed, “We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the families of the officers and the first responder who were tragically killed this morning while responding to a domestic call. They were serving their duty to protect, and their loss is deeply felt. We grieve with the Burnsville community and the families of the deceased.”
