According to his LinkedIn profile, Mohammad Nusairat is a student at the University of Illinois Chicago working towards a BS in Data Science with a focus on Computer Science. During a recent address to the university’s Muslim Students Association, he expressed critical views on America and its ideologies.
Nusairat described America, along with its government, secularism, democracy, and capitalism as harmful influences that have propagated their effects widely, both domestically and in the Middle East.
He pointed out the contrast between the freedom to engage in behaviors like fornication and the restrictions he perceives when voicing certain opinions.
“Now Muslims are tired of this cancer. They’re tired of the American government. They’re tired of democracy. They want to see a new way of life. And as Muslims, we have to understand, that we have that new way of life,” he also said.
He further stated, “The Prophet was a beacon of compassion for all humanity. His teachings are a source of kindness and peace, meant to benefit both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Under the guidance of Islam, which he described as a just faith, societal concerns that currently affect non-Muslims would be alleviated.”
The video containing Nusairat’s sermon has sparked significant backlash on social media platforms. Among the various reactions, one individual suggested that those who dislike the U.S. should leave the country.
Others have called for a review of his academic standing and immigration status, questioning the rationale behind staying in a country that one criticizes.
One social media user expressed the view that individuals who find it challenging to conform to American customs and regulations should return to their countries of origin.
Another voiced a desire for such individuals to distance themselves from the U.S., while a third suggested that those dissatisfied with living in America should relocate to their native countries.
In the video, Musab Kazi, a student, delivered a sermon on April 26, 2024, at the UIC MSA. He expressed that the freedom of Palestine would come not through American intervention or political figures like congressmen or senators, but through the collective efforts of the Muslim community.
He further emphasized that the individuals capable of rescuing Masjid Al-Aqsa from those he termed “oppressors” were present in that very room, referring to them as “Muslims of strength.”
