An Indian-origin man in New York killed his younger brother and injured his mother before taking his own life. The incident occurred in their Richmond Hill home after a pizza party.
Late Saturday night, Karamjit Multani, a father of three, reportedly burst into his brother Vipanpal Multani’s room and shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Karamjit also fired at his 52-year-old mother, and the bullet narrowly missed her. Later, the 33-year-old was discovered dead from a gunshot wound to the head, with a gun nearby. Police suspect it was a suicide. The mother has been hospitalized.
According to CBS New York, the Multani family had just finished a pizza dinner before the tragic incident occurred. When Karamjit began shooting, Vipanpal’s father, Bhupinder Singh, hurried to a neighbor’s house, who then dialed 911.
The neighbor entered the Multani residence and discovered that Vipanpal was still alive, although he succumbed to his injuries a few minutes later.
The news of the incident spread throughout Narangpur village in Kapurthala district, Punjab, leaving the entire community in mourning.
According to former sarpanch Sarabjit Singh Pappal, Bhupinder Singh, along with his wife and sons Karamjit and Vipanpal, established their residence in the US many years ago.
Bhupinder Singh, still in shock, is grappling with the loss he has experienced. When questioned by the police and media in the US, he expressed bewilderment about the reasons behind Karamjit’s actions and asserted that the two brothers had never encountered any issues.
