Last week, a 12-year-old girl from Texas, who tragically lost her life at the hands of illegal migrants, bravely resisted until her final moments, leaving behind scratch and bite marks on one of the suspects, according to prosecutors.
During a court hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors disclosed information that was attended by the girl’s mother, as reported by the New York Post.

The recent discovery of a Texas girl’s body in a ditch has sparked renewed political controversy regarding immigration in the United States during an election year. Republicans have used the incident to criticize President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration policies.
According to assistant district attorney Megan Long, Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel, one of the accused, bore bite marks when he was apprehended during the hearing.
Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, the other accused, claimed that he attempted to intervene and prevent Martinez-Rangel, but the latter reportedly declined and proceeded to strangle the girl.
According to Fox News, Pena Ramos acknowledged kissing the girl but asserted that Martinez-Rangel exhibited even greater physical aggression.
Martinez-Rangel reportedly informed his accomplice that he needed to complete what he had initiated, all while covering the young girl’s mouth during the assault, according to the lead prosecutor.
According to prosecutors, the intoxicated suspects enticed the girl beneath the bridge on June 17. Over a span of two hours, they removed her pants, bound her, and ultimately caused her death. The girl’s feet were tied, and her back bore cuts, as reported by The New York Times.
The girl ventured out of her home to call her boyfriend, and it was during this time that the accused committed the crime. Both suspects now face capital murder charges.
Martinez-Rangel, deemed a flight risk, faces a $10 million bail condition set by the Harris County District Court judge.
The judge set a substantial bail amount to prevent the accused from being deported and evading justice within the United States.
“We are waiting on lab tests now to see if the capital murder charge can be upgraded to one where they are death penalty eligible,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said there was clear evidence of sexual assault.
If the forensics department confirms sexual assault, prosecutors may pursue the death penalty. Under Texas law, the death penalty can be sought if the girl was killed during the commission of another felony.
At the court hearing, a family member of the girl shouted “murderer” when Martinez-Rangel appeared before the judge. The person was overheard expressing a wish for harm upon Martinez-Rangel’s children.
Conversely, the girl’s mother, who referred to the accused as “monsters,” gave Martinez-Rangel a piercing glare as he exited the courtroom.
