Damon Tingay, aged 29 and with no fixed abode, has been arrested for breaking into the restricted area of the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. He committed a sexual offence on a corpse, leading to his remand in custody after pleading guilty to trespass with intent to commit sexual offences and sexual penetration of a corpse.
Tingay is awaiting sentencing at Grimsby Crown Court on June 27. The incident was initially suspected to be a burglary, but Tingay later confessed to the sexual act with the deceased.
The individual, Damon Tingay, who lacks a permanent address, admitted to trespassing with the intention of committing sexual offenses during his appearance at Hull Crown Court on Monday.
According to GrimsbyLive, the incident was recorded on CCTV, but it won’t be publicly displayed in court. Instead, it will either be presented privately to the judge or described in detail by the prosecution.
The upcoming hearing will determine the course of action, as reported by the media outlet.
During the plea and trial preparation hearing, Tingay appeared in a grey sweatshirt with white striped sleeves, expecting a significant prison sentence.
However, the precise duration of his incarceration remains uncertain until June 27. Judge John Thackray QC has ordered a psychiatric evaluation before the sentencing decision.
Furthermore, the probation service will create a report assessing Tingay’s potential risk to the public. It’s important to note that the investigation related to Tingay is separate from the well-known inquiry involving Legacy Funeral Directors.
