Madison Bergmann, a 24-year-old St. Paul resident and elementary school teacher in Wisconsin, has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with an 11-year-old student. These allegations come just three months before her wedding and have resulted in serious charges, including first-degree child sexual assault involving a child under the age of 13, as reported by CBS.
According to the complaint filed in St. Croix County, authorities were made aware of troubling behavior at River Crest Elementary School in Hudson. The report specifically highlighted inappropriate conduct involving Ms. Bergmann and a fifth-grade student.

Based on screenshots of text exchanges between the victim and Ms. Bergmann, which were discovered by the victim’s parents, authorities learned that she communicated with the child on a daily basis. In these messages, she allegedly expressed enjoyment in “making out” with him and being touched by him.
These interactions reportedly occurred within the school premises, either during lunch breaks or after school hours, as indicated in the police reports.
Inside Ms. Bergmann’s bag, the police discovered a folder labeled with the victim’s name. This folder contained numerous handwritten notes detailing their physical interactions. The exact duration of the abuse remains unclear.
However, Ms. Bergmann disclosed that she obtained the child’s phone number from his mother during a winter break trip to the Afton Alps in December.
Interestingly, this was also the same month when she became engaged to her long-time boyfriend. According to the NY Times, her wedding was scheduled for three months later, in July.
We are deeply shocked and disturbed by this news. Our utmost concern is the well-being of the River Crest School community and the children impacted.
After posting a $25,000 bond, Ms. Bergmann is now barred from accessing school grounds or participating in school events. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 30th.
